MAJ- GEN FELIX MUJAKPERUO (RTD) APPOINTED AS CHANCELLOR OF NIGERIAN ARMY UNIVERSITY BIU

President Muhammadu Buhari (GCFR) has approved the appointment of Maj- Gen Felix Mujakperuo (Rtd), the Orodje of Okpe Kingdom as Chancellor of Nigerian Army University Biu on Thursday 8th July, 2021, among similar appointments in 41 Federal Universities across the country.

This was disclosed by Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu in a news conference on Thursday, 8th July, 2021, in Abuja. The Minister said the appointment was part of the Federal Government effort to strengthen the institutions for effective service delivery for national development and global competitiveness.

Following the establishment of additional universities, President Muhammadu Buhari approved the appointment and/or reassignment of Chancellors to forty-two (42) Federal universities.

Malam Adamu Adamu described the appointment of royal fathers as an attempt to provide national unity and avenue for moral rectitude. The Minister emphasized that “as royal fathers, these chancellors are expected to be the moral compass of the various universities to which they are assigned.

“They have been taken from their kingdoms and primary constituencies to other kingdoms and these appointments are expected to play a role in cementing relationships between communities in the country.

The Minister noted that the Chancellor shall, in accordance with the established rules of the University, preside at all meetings of convocations.
