The Directorate of Pre Degree Programme of the Nigerian Army University Biu (NAUB) organised an orientation programme for students admitted into the Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB) Programme. This was to get them up to par with what is expected of them in the course of the programme. The event was also intended to enlighten the students on how they can make the best of the opportunity afforded them to prepare for the examination.
The Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) of the University who is also the Chairperson Standing Management Committee on IJMB, Professor Fatimah Tahir welcomed the newly admitted students into NAUB and called on them to brace up for the task before them and ensure they pass their exams with flying colours. Professor Tahir added that NAUB will accept students who obtain the required points and apply for courses in the University.
In his address, the Coordinator, Directorate of Pre-Degree Programme, Dr Sulaiman Abubakar Babagana urged the students to sit-up and study with all commitments. Dr Abubakar promised that students will be given the best attention during their studies, as this will help to ensure that they have a hitch free learning experience.
The Deputy Director of Academic planning, Mallam Usman A. Iliya welcomed the students into the University which he described as a “new world’’. Malam Iliya encouraged them to shun laxity towards their studies. He cautioned them on the distractions being posed by social media platforms as they can make students to perform poorly in the examination.
In the same vein, the Dean, Faculty of Art Management and Social Sciences, Professor AS Wakawa also called on the students to be serious with their studies adding that they can apply to any University of their choice if they score enough points in their examination.
