The Vice Chancellor Nigerian Army University Biu (NAUB), Prof Kyari Mohammed along with Principal Staff Officers of the University held a tree planting exercise to officially herald the move towards the attainment of the University’s green mandate.
Speaking at the event, Professor Mohammed disclosed that the University has so far planted 5000 trees within the Campus and intends to plant more trees as the years roll by. The University with support from notably the Great Green Wall and the Mahdi Foundation have so far planted about 9000 trees within the campus as it aspires to earn the name “Nigeria’s Green University”.
The Vice Chancellor also highlighted the need to face up to the threats being posed by climate change and environmental degradation ranging from fire outbreaks, floods, storms, and hurricanes. He went further to say that any initiative, no matter how little is a step forward in “greening” the World and hopes that the university will continue to build on what has been achieved so far.
