Dr. Abdulkadir Hassan Disina is the pioneer Head of the department and was born on the 11th November 1985 in Disina, Shira LGA of Bauchi state. He obtained his bachelor degree in Information Technology with specialization in Network technology from Infrastructure University Kuala Lumpur (IUKL) Malaysia in 2012. He then proceeded to University Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) for MSc Computer Science with specialization in Cyber Security and graduated in 2014. Dr. Disina obtained his PhD in Information Technology (Cyber Security) in 2018 from the same institution (UTHM). He has published a number of scholarly articles in the area of cyber security and has won number of research grants from different organizations. He is actively involved in various individual and collaborative researches in the domain of ICT and cross cutting. He is a registered member of the Computer Professionals Registration Council of Nigeria (CPN)
Introduction
Cyber Security is a Four (4) years degree program domiciling in the Faculty of Computing which is designed to provide relevant basic educational structure that will equip the graduates of the Department with profound and useful skills that would enable them function in this age of Information and Communication Technology.
Philosophy
Cyber security is about how we develop secured computers, applications and computer networks, to ensure that the data stored and transmitted through them is protected from unauthorized access or to combat digital security threats and hazards. As we conduct more of our social, consumer and business activities online, there is a corresponding increase in the demand for cyber security professionals and tools to protect our digital environment and economy.
VISION OF THE DEPARTMENT
To constitute an unequal and attainable Centre of Excellence for the development of Cyber Security Professionals and Tools in both hardware and software in Nigeria and world at large. The Department envisions high manpower development in cybercrime detections at both local and at the international scenes.
MISSION OF THE DEPARTMENT
To develop standards with intense and sound academic competency in Cyber Security that shall meet manpower demands that has impeccable revolutionized ethical minds which would meet businesses, cooperate bodies and governmental institutions demands without tented aggrandizements both at the Local and International Scenes.
Aims and Objectives of the Course
The aim of the program is to produce graduates:
♦ Who have an analytical and reflective understanding of Cyber Security in the context of the workplace today and in relation to the wider social, ethical and cultural environment.
♦ With enhanced employability and career prospects within the specialized sector of Cyber Security with the opportunity to develop specialist skills, tools and knowledge in this area.
♦ Who will have experienced working and studying with peers from diverse backgrounds
♦ Who have the ability to critically reflect and learn personal work experience as well as external visits and relate this to relevant theory and practical projects.
