FAMSS SETUP A ONE DAY WORKSHOP FOR LECTURERS OF THE FACULTY

The Faculty of Arts Management and Social Science (FAMSS) has held a one-day Training Workshop on Academic Reference Management. The Workshop intended to update Lecturers with the latest technique in the field of reference Management, draw participants from the 15 departments of the Faculty.
In his remarks, the Dean FAMSS Prof. Mahir Mahir disclosed that three (3) participants were drawn from each department of the faculty, and charged the participants to share knowledge gained in the workshop with their colleagues in their respective departments. “This is a culture we are trying to encourage-knowledge sharing, he said.” Workshop like these are useful because Academicians are required to publish papers in journals, make chapters contributions in textbooks, present papers in seminars: all these require that you get your reference right. This modern training in conducting research is needed to ensure Faculty is up to par.
In his address, the University Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics) Professor Ibrahim Isah Adamu expressed delight at the inter-departmental collaboration and the result it is yielding. He called on every participant to pay rapt attention to everything that they will be taught in the workshop as the problem of poor reference management lead to plagiarism which is a grave offence in the academia.
The Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration) Professor Ahmad Iman stressed the importance of inter-faculty and inter-department collaboration and knowledge sharing. He wished all participants a successful training workshop.
