NAUB Golf Club Hosts Triangular Golf Special Kitty

The Nigerian Army University Golf Club recently hosted a prestigious Triangular Golf Special Kitty at the esteemed NAUB Golf Course on Saturday 3rd August 2024. The event featured three competitive teams: Yola Golf Club, led by Pharm. Dauda Teri; Gombe Golf Club, led by Bala R. Mohammed; and NAUB Golf Club, led by Prof. Ahmed Imam.

In his welcome address, Prof. Kyari Mohammed, the host, expressed his pleasure at hosting the event, describing it as a fortunate occasion to gather and celebrate among golfing friends. He highlighted the significance of the event as a meeting of enthusiastic golfers and shared his delight in having them play at the university’s prestigious golf course.

The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Halilu Mohammed, Chairman of the Adamawa Golf Association. He expressed deep gratitude to the Vice Chancellor for the opportunity to participate in such a well-organized competition, noting that their expectations were not only met but exceeded.

The thrilling results of the Triangular Golf Special Kitty saw Ahmed Bukar Bazza from Yola Golf Club emerge as the nearest to the pin winner, while Halilu Mohammed, also from Yola Golf Club, claimed the award for the longest drive. In the ladies category, Sarah Solomon impressed with a remarkable total score of 53 gross over 9 holes, followed closely by Esther Solomon, who secured the runner-up position with a total of 58 gross over 9 holes.

In the veteran category, A. Zambuk from Gombe Golf Club won the net category with a total net score of 72 over 18 holes, while Mark Wosi triumphed in the gross category with a score of 95 gross over 18 holes. For category 0-28, Mamman Tijani stood out with a total gross score of 74, making him the overall winner from Yola.

The Triangular Golf Special Kitty was a memorable event, fostering friendship and showcasing the vibrant golfing community within the region. As anticipation builds for the upcoming Annual Open in October, the golfing community eagerly awaits even more excitement, competitive spirit, and camaraderie.
