NAUB HOLDS 6TH MATRICULATION CEREMONY
The Nigerian Army University Biu (NAUB) held its 6th matriculation ceremony for newly admitted students of the 2024/2025 academic session on Thursday 2nd May, 2024. The purpose of the matriculation ceremony is to induct new students into the University, swear them on oath of good behavior and allegiance, and formally admit them into the university as students with all the rights and obligations it entails.
Declaring the ceremony open, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Kyari Mohammed welcomed and congratulated the newly admitted students for being among the lucky ones to secure admission into one of the Nigerians’ best, youngest, and fastest-growing institutions of learning. The University in its 6th Matriculation is competing with some of the oldest Universities in this country in terms of output.
The Vice-Chancellor disclosed that the university is matriculating 761 students who have successfully registered and have taken the matriculation oath. Furthermore, he disclosed, that the Nigerian Army University Biu has come to stay, whatever noise you may have heard either from the mainstream or from social media we are not aware of it. This is Nigerian Army University Biu; you have been admitted and you are going to graduate from the Nigerian Army University Biu. The Nigerian Army University Biu is not going to be merged with any institution. He reiterated
Prof Kyari informed the students that, in this University, discipline is key because this is a very ethical University, we have no room for all forms of anti-social behavior such as violence of all forms especially gender-based violence, drug and substance abuse, cultism, examination malpractice, theft and all forms of misconduct will be dealt with decisively irrespective of who is concerned and where he is coming from. We have zero tolerance for bad behavior, the VC reaffirmed. Promising the students a joyous academic pursuit but only if they remain within the bounds of our laws, and bye-laws and obey constituted authority.
Furthermore, the VC stated that The University strives to ensure excellence and professionalism through partnership and running of fully accredited programs. Emphasizing that, “the university is one of the best because all of its Courses and programs have been accredited by the Nigerian Universities Commission (NUC) with a score of 96% and working towards 100%. Also, engaging professional bodies such as COREN amongst others to come and carry out their aspect of the exercise is in progress.
Prof Kyari uses the medium to appreciate staff and students on the sacrifices made in seeing that an enviable university is built from the ground up with all its challenges.
Also, on a sad note, the VC expresses his condolences on the death of General Ali Williams Butu, one of the pioneer Orator, and Dean of the Faculty of Environmental Sciences, he prayed may the Good Lord have mercy on him.
