VC Visits Headquarters Theatre Command, Joint Task Force Operation Hadin Kai, Seeks Deeper Partnership

The Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the Nigerian Army University Biu (NAUB) Prof Lawan Bala Buratai was on a courtesy visit on the 10th December 2025 to the Theatre Command headquarters, Joint Task Force NorthEast Operation Hadin Kai, Maidugri. The visit is to familiarize with the Theatre Commander, Major General AE Abubakar, on forming a strategic partnership and securing the release of a kidnapped professor.The visit, the first of its kind, was aimed at familiarizing the university leadership with the Command and exploring avenues for mutual collaboration.
The VC stated that the core purpose of the visit was to formalize a partnership, emphasizing that courses offered at NAUB, such as engineering, are directly relevant to the military. He proposed the establishment of joint training workshops between the university and the Theatre Command to enhance the skills of military personnel.Prof Lawan Buratai also underscored the need for continuous collaboration between the academic institution and the military, particularly in the area of security.

Prof Buratai extended his gratitude to the Theatre Command for their efforts that led to the recent release of a captured lecturer of the University of Maidugri. However, he made a passionate request for the command to intensify efforts toward the release of Prof Abubakar El-juma.The theater commander Major General Abubakar, in his response, appreciates the VC for the groundbreaking visit and acknowledged the importance of training in the army.
He accepted the offer for collaboration, stating the command would take advantage of the university’s courses and training activities to better equip soldiers.Regarding the abducted academic, the Theatre Commander assured the VC that the Command would redouble its efforts to secure Professor El-juma’s release, but requested for more details information about the kidnapping to aid the intelligence and rescue operations.

The VC was accompanied by the Ag. Deputy Vice Chancellor Military Col AY Bello, CO Admin Battalion Lt Col M Musa. The historic meeting concluded with an exchange of souvenirs and a group photograph, marking the official commencement of a potential new synergy between the Nigerian Army University Biu and the Command.
